Anopheles Mosquitoes

• Slender bodies with three sections head, thorax and abdomen
• The stomach area points upward when resting
• Transmits Malaria, filariasis etc.
Culex Mosquitoes
• Culex Mosquito is yellowish in colour
• Slender bodies with long legs
• Stay parallel to the surface when resting
• Transmits encephalitis, filariasis etc.
Aedes Mosquitoes
• Aedes Mosquito is dark in colour and has typical white markings on the legs and lyre like markings on the thorax.
• Smaller in size, being only 4 to 7 millimetres long
• Transmits Chikungunya, Dengue fever, Lymphatic filariasis, Yellow Fever & Zika fever.
Mosquito populations can be control through the elimination of sources of standing water, which provide ideal breeding sites for mosquitoes. All mosquitoes undergo the same four stages of life cycle; egg, larva, pupa, and adult, with the larval and pupal stages always being aquatic.
